Broker imports without API access

Most portfolio trackers ask for broker API keys, exchange credentials and Open Banking permissions before they show you a single number. Manalyx flips that around: the default integration is the PDF or CSV statement you already download anyway. Read-only chain providers, optional read-only exchange keys and scheduled market-data jobs round out the picture – no broker API and no banking credential is required to start.

Supported brokers and statement formats

For stocks and ETFs the import accepts the formats most European and US private investors actually have on their disk:

  • Trade Republic – CSV statement export from the in-app reports
  • Scalable Capital – PDF account statement and yearly tax report
  • DEGIRO – Account or transaction CSV from the web client
  • Comdirect – PDF Depotauszug
  • ING – PDF Depotaufstellung
  • Interactive Brokers – Activity Statement (CSV)
  • Robinhood – Portfolio CSV export
  • Generic CSV – any file with date, ISIN/ticker, quantity, price columns

Wallet, exchange and market-data integrations

For crypto, Manalyx connects to chain-specific data providers and only ever uses your public wallet addresses to read balances, NFTs and DeFi positions. Optional read-only exchange API keys are AES-256 encrypted and only ever used by the server-side sync function.

Banking import and what is deliberately missing

Banking is statement-upload only – there is no PSD2 / Open Banking live connection by design, which keeps banking credentials entirely out of Manalyx. No write integration exists anywhere either: no order placement, no transfers, no withdrawal-permission API keys.

Integration philosophy

Why every Manalyx integration is one-way and what that buys you in practice

An integration in Manalyx is a one-way pipe: external data flows in, nothing flows back out. Brokers are reached through statement imports, exchanges through read-only API keys, blockchains through public addresses, prices through public market-data providers. The architectural choice is dull on paper and extremely useful in practice — the worst-case impact of any integration breaking, leaking or being compromised is at most stale data in your dashboard, never a movement on your account.

Why broker statement imports beat broker APIs for retail

Most retail brokers do not expose stable, sanctioned read APIs. Building on unsanctioned scraping is fragile and forces credentials to flow through a third party. Statement imports use the broker's own export — already vetted by the broker — and parse it on the server. The user keeps full control of when data is shared, and the parser absorbs the broker's quirks (date locales, multi-currency rows, fee fields) once.

How exchange API keys are stored and used

When you do connect a centralised-exchange API key, only read scope is requested in the documentation, and the key is encrypted with AES-256 at rest. The cron job decrypts it inside an Edge Function for each scheduled poll, never on the client. If the exchange supports IP allowlisting, the documented Manalyx IPs make that an additional defensive layer.

Cache-first market data and the egress budget

Prices are read from a price_cache table with a 30-minute TTL before any external call. The cron jobs refresh the cache on schedules tuned per provider so a single user opening five tabs does not multiply the egress bill. This is what makes the 5 GB monthly egress budget realistic across all users while keeping prices fresh enough for a portfolio dashboard.

Without Manalyx

  • Manually checking balances in different apps
  • No total overview across all platforms
  • Typing broker statements by hand
  • No connection between wallet and portfolio
  • Data in unprotected spreadsheets

With Manalyx

  • Wallets synced automatically via address
  • Exchanges connected securely via API
  • Broker PDFs intelligently parsed
  • Everything in one encrypted dashboard
  • Enterprise-grade encryption for all data
